It’s 2015 and the average American adult spends five hours and nine minutes daily with digital media. If your job requires you to work on a computer, you’re probably averaging upwards of eleven hours of daily electronic use. Why not make the best of your use with a few helpful apps to better your health?
At Kalico, we appreciate the importance of a healthy work environment and try to maintain healthy work habits as well. One of those important habits is the need to take a daily break. In many industries, breaks play an important and necessary role in our overall health and sanity. However, as essential as it may seem to the daily workflow, taking a break certainly can be hard.
Many of you have probably heard the terms “high resolution” and “low resolution”. If you’ve worked with designers or photographers, and have ever sent anything to a printer, you may actually know what they mean. However, there is a real need to understand the difference between the two, and why they’re important.
Why not make some fun, creative, spooktacular signs for your Halloween party, or even just to spiff up your office candy jar! We’re happy to share some of our free, Kalico-designed, tested and approved Halloween printables.
We are thrilled to have been awarded four American Graphic Design Awards! For several decades, Graphic Design USA has sponsored design competitions that spotlight areas of excellence and opportunity for creative professionals. GDUSA’s American Graphic Design Awards are the biggest and broadest of these competitions, open to everyone in the community including advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporations, associations, universities, publishers and more. With over 8,000 entries, only a highly selective 15% are recognized with a Certificate of Excellence award. Needless to say, we are beyond excited!!
Fall can be a beautiful time to get outdoors—and why not take your dog (or in my case, dogs) with you!? Kalico’s mascots, Kai and Bruce, love being outdoors in the fall—whether it’s hiking in Gambrill Park, running next to us bicycling, or even taking a boat ride down the Potomac!
Kalico is a long standing member of the American Advertising Federation Greater Frederick chapter (AAFGF), and we love volunteering for this amazing organization. So, we were very excited to create the collateral material for the AAFGF’s biggest event of the year—the American Advertising Awards (formerly known as the ADDYs).
This past weekend we celebrated the rockin’ talents of the advertising and design industry in the Greater Frederick region at the AAF-GF’s American Advertising Awards (formerly known as the ADDYs). With a rock theme complete with live entertainment performing the likes of Twisted Sister, Guns n Roses, and Van Halen (not to mention event collateral created by us—BAM!), needless to say, we had a BLAST!
Last week, I attended The Power Conference, a 1-day conference dedicated to women in business. Produced by the Women Business Consortium (made up of groups from around the Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia region), the conference was a wonderful event filled with a variety of workshops, roundtables, presentations and networking opportunities. Here is a brief summary of inspirational tidbits gathered from the conference:
What do frogs and ships have in common with each other (besides water)? Well, they’re both part of daily action components of The Manifest Method, a goal-setting and goal-achieving strategy developed by Angela Jia Kim of Savor the Success. And they are the two components that I’ve found most helpful in creating a detailed, attainable (not to mention successful) to-do list!
