Our local chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) needed creative event marketing and branding collateral materials for their biggest event of the year—the American Advertising Awards (formerly known as the ADDYs). To celebrate the club’s 25th anniversary, the 2015 awards theme was simply “25.″
We immediately knew we wanted to play off the 1920′s vibe! Rather than going in an art deco, glitzy Gatsby direction, we took the design aesthetic into a more subdued, darker and grittier speakeasy feel. For the event theme logo, we went with a simple, yet elegant type-based logo, and a color palette that consisted of blacks, grays, and “dirty” gold. The Call for Entries Invitation was developed to look like an old bootlegged bottle, which we delivered in-person to event sponsors (dressed as flappers)!
The speakeasy theme was a huge hit! The tone and vibe of the event collateral inspired event goers to dress up in 1920’s garb, to get in the spirit. Additional collateral material consisted of a website design, social media and enewsletter graphics, event signage, event program, judges booklet, and even wooden nickels!
